Spammers with temporary email generator

Lately I have been dealing with a new breed of spammer, one that signs up for the board and a couple of days later will start to post the spam. In several cases I know it is the same person because of the required information they use when registering. Each spammer has the ability to use a different IP address and registers with a different email addresses each time, (temporary email generator).

How about the ability to send repeat confirmation emails to all users (until confirmed x times) over a period of days to months. After the email is confirmed x times the user does not receive any more confirmation emails. (thus possibly eliminating those that use temporary email generators)

  1. So real people need to confirm their account multiple times to prove they aren't a spammer? Screw that. Everyone is so quick to offer a solution, but we need to work on *preventing* the spammers; not making it harder and more hassled for *real people*.

  2. If someone is spamming, you can block their IP if they are from a known spamming country. You can also block their e-mail address. I realize this is not a permanent fix but will make the spammer jump through more hoops to spam again.

I have been having a lot of hackers/spammers from the former Soviet Union so I block their IP address when they signup. It has slowed it down but I think they are using proxy servers now. They cannot post until I approve them so I don’t know why they keep trying – assuming it is the same person/persons.
