Disable Nested Quotes

This would allow you to disable "nested" quotes through a setting - so when you hit the quote button, it only quotes the current post and no quotes within it.

  3. Yeah, disable it, but let the Admin choose how many layers should be allowed. Sometime having one quote nested in another can be useful, but I agree loads of them just isn't.

  4. I agree with MrDoom; allow them to disable it completely (meaning a single quote), allow x number of nested quotes, and allow unlimited...

  9. Yes. This is aggravating at times, and I have to edit the quote, which takes as much time as when I swipe their text, copy it, scroll down to quick-quote, write out my [quote=] [/quote] tags and paste it in the center.

  10. Mine seems to be hard set at 4 or 5 "layers of quotes" before it starts over or however you wish to say it.

    I too would like just 1 quote per reply unless you can figure out a way to layer them that makes more sense to the reader and maybe color code them.

    Instead of layering them in such a way as you do now where you have

    User3
    ------
    user2
    ------
    User 1
    Said Hi
    --------
    hi
    --------
    hi
    ---------

    Have it read like

    User1 hi
    --------
    user2 hi
    --------
    user3 hi

    Anotherwords instead of layering the quotes in the middle on top of each other like layers of a cake, have them stacked one above the other like laying pieces of paper end to end and alternate colors of each quote.

    The only other way I see that this could be simply handled is to do away with multiple quotes as has been suggested.

  15. the imei plugin mentioned above works, but ONLY if you don't already have posts with nested quotes. eg, it can't remove nested quotes inside of quotes. or something like that.

    someone on the forum said this was a scheduled feature for 1.6.

  16. no. nested quotes are the best thing ever and there are enough stupid vBB admins that disable them for no reason at all. we shouldn't allow for that to be done in myBB

  17. Marked as included. This has been implemented in MyBB 1.6 in the form of a "maximum quotes nestable" setting.
